Golden Wings® Low Fat Handfeeding Formula is specially developed for medium-sized bird species, providing a balanced diet with moderate fat levels and higher protein content to support growth and development. This formula is suitable for species such as Asian Parakeets, White-bellied Caiques, Conures, Monks, and Long-tailed Parakeets.

Feeding Instructions:

  1. Preparation:

    • Mix hot water (48°C / 120°F) with 30% solids in a sterilized feeding cup for chicks 8 days after hatching.
    • Gradually increase the proportion of solids to 40% until chicks are 30 days old.
    • Cool the formula to 38°C / 100°F to 40°C / 104°F before feeding to avoid burning the crop.
    • The formula should have an applesauce-like consistency or slightly thinner.

  2. Feeding Method:

    • Use a teaspoon or demitasse spoon with sides bent up to form a trough, or large syringes with care.
    • Stimulate the feeding response by touching the beak or back corners of the beak with the spoon containing warm formula.
    • Young chicks should be fed every 3-4 hours during the daytime. Adjust feeding frequency as the chick gets older.
    • For 30-day-old chicks, hand feed three times a day, reducing to one spoon feeding as they start self-feeding well from feeding cups.
    • Introduce fruits as treats once a day between main feedings when chicks are 30-40 days old.
